The Diploma in Counseling Psychology program focuses on counseling techniques and theory applied to individuals, couples, families and groups. Our innovative, engaging program creates a foundation for making knowledge work in the real world (see Testimonies). The program is delivered by practising professional counselors and provides a dynamic experiential learning centered on the application of theory to real-life situations. The counseling psychology program has as its core mission the training of ethical, effective, compassionate and self-aware counselors.

This is a 10-month part time program with weekly lecture from 7pm to 10pm. An average of additional 6 hours per month, outside of lecture hours, will be allocated to practical sessions and tutorials.
TEACHING APPROACH back to top
The College's training approach is based on adult experiential learning principles in which the student is regarded as the most important ingredient in the learning process. The curriculum and interactive learning environment provide the opportunity to discuss, apply, test, reflect, evaluate and acquire hands-on skills. You are also required to do a large part of your study in your own time. Skills gained can be introduced immediately into the students' personal and professional lives.

ASSESSMENT METHODS back to top
Students undertake assessments at the end of each module, not end of term examinations, to demonstrate knowledge, competence and understanding. Assessments enable application and reflection on skill development. Students are assessed using a variety of methods including tests, essays, interviews, videotaped role-plays, and module-specific projects. Upon successful completion, students will be awarded the Diploma in Counseling Psychology by Lee Community College.
ADMISSION CRITERIA back to top
Applicants should possess at least 3 'O' level credits, including English or an equivalent recognized qualification. In lieu of the academic qualifications, mature applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. In addition, applicants must have completed our Certificate in Counseling Psychology program.

Students of our Diploma program are eligible* to apply as a student-member with:- * Terms and conditions vary with each association and apply accordingly. Membership is at the sole discretion of the association.

Interested applicants are required to submit the following:
  • Duly-completed application form
  • Certified true copies of highest education certificates and transcripts
  • Photocopy of NRIC or passport
  • 2 passport-sized photographs
  • Registration Fee (non-refundable)

Note: Individual applicants who do not qualify for any form of funding may opt for our in-house interest-free installment scheme.

Applicants who are receiving SDF or VCF funding are required to pay the full amount less subsidies upfront.
