Dr Toke Speaks at the Singapore Parenting Congress 2007

Dr Toke, our Course Director, spoke at the Singapore Parenting Congress 2007 recently on 22-23 Sep.

The Congress is an annual event organized by MediaCorp Radio, and supported by the MCYS and the National Family Council. Its main objective is to equip and empower parents with the tools to a great relationship with their children.

Dr Toke addressed 2 topics at this Congress – Virtuous Parenting in a Virtual World and Raising EMO-tionally Resilent Teenagers – that were met with rave reviews:

The tips shared on how to better manage your child in a virtual world provided the parents with better tools to communicate effectively with their children. The video clip shared gave parents the hope that they could still do something that can lead to positive outcome for their children and family.
 - Nor Dewi Saleh

The fact that John Cowan, the other plenary speaker from New Zealand, publicly asked Dr Toke’s permission to use the latter’s materials during the Q&A sessions, says it all.
 - Timothy Lim

Dr Toke is easy to listen to – witty and very wise. He not only kept the audience riveted, and at the same time wonderfully amused, he really gave us something to stash away in our heads for later reflection and application. We would like to thank him for giving us such a good time.
 - Sharon Ho

It was a very informative talk. Attending more talks like this will help parents to ‘sync’ with their teenagers better, and hopefully they will approach their parents in times of difficulty, instead of, with their peers.
